For my final assignment at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, I documented one of the company’s boldest builds yet: a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter (427-cubic-inch) stroker version of the LT2 V-8 engine installed in the hybrid all-wheel-drive Corvette E-Ray. The story, published by MotorTrend’s Hot Rod magazine, walks readers through the technical challenges of increasing displacement in a midengine platform, including custom crankshaft clearance, CNC-machined internals and tuning for both power and reliability.
